Infants/Crawlers (6 weeks - 12 months)

In the nursery classes, you will find spacious, bright lively classrooms designed to stimulate the young mind. We stimulate the minds of children by providing, pictures, mobiles, music, songs, conversation, and toys throughout the classroom.  We also provide several swings, bouncers, and boppies to provide alternate placement of children throughout the day.

Toddlers (1 & 2-year-olds)

In the Toddler classes, you will find spacious, bright classrooms designed to stimulate the young mind. We stimulate the minds of children by providing, pictures, activities, music, songs, conversation, and toys throughout the classrooms.  We also incorporate a broad knowledge-based center curriculum that allows the children to participate in STEM-based learning activities that incorporate all five senses and stimulate the brain in many ways. Language and literacy are equally important aspects of our educational program that focus on communication skills with an emphasis on speech and language development. The curriculum introduces both gross motor and fine motor activities that will challenge any toddler-age child. They will learn through play, teacher structured activities, and classroom free choice activities. The potty training experience is a long-awaited age-appropriate experience that is introduced on the toddler level and strongly encouraged as the toddlers find the balance between becoming vocal and independent.

Pre - K (4-year-old)

First Steps offers Pre-K classes through the Georgia Lottery Funded Pre-K Program. Students must be four years old on or before September 1st, for an upcoming school year to be eligible.

The Pre-K calendar operates on a 180-day calendar, which typically follows the Newton and Rockdale County School System with an exception of some holidays and unforeseen circumstances.

The Pre-K Program operational hours are from 7:30am -2:15pm Monday- Friday, and we ask that students be on time and present to benefit the most from the program.

Georgia‘s Pre-K Content Standards form the foundation for the Pre- K Classroom instruction. These standards correlate to Georgia Early Learning and Development Standards as well as Georgia’s Kindergarten Performance Standards. This set of standards will support the foundation for early learning and development and will cater to individualizing a child’s developmental milestones.
